Recommended organs to treat: Prostate
The Focalyx Fusion software device is a tool for image-guided interventional and diagnostic procedures involving the prostate gland, and to be used by physicians for enhanced visualization of two-dimensional (2D) transrectal ultrasound TRUS images of the prostate in clinic and hospital settings. It allows the user to segment medical images and it performs three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction of digitized TRUS video images to form a 3D TRUS volume. The Focalyx Fusion software provides 2D and 3D image visualization features, including the ability to review images, generate multi-planar views, annotate images, and identify and record the locations of instruments inserted during the biopsy procedure.
The Focalyx Fusion is used in diagnostic and treatment procedures in a clinical setting in which a needle or other instrument is inserted into the prostate through the perineum or urethra, or instruments that are positioned externally to the prostate so that treatment can be delivered to prostate tissue, or diagnostic information obtained from prostate tissue.
Recommended organs to treat:
Prostate, kidney, liver, lung, bone, breast and others.
Cryoablation is a minimally invasive treatment that uses intense cold to freeze and destroy diseased tissue, including cancer cells.
During cryotherapy, high pressure liquid nitrogen or argon gas is flushed into an applicator (a cryoprobe), creating a severe cold (an «ice ball» is created) that comes into contact with diseased tissue.
Cryotherapy can be applied topically (on the surface of the skin), percutaneously (through the skin), or surgically. In some cases a surgical incision is required.
Since cryotherapy consists of a series of steps that lead to cell death, tumors are repeatedly frozen and thawed; typically two or more freeze-thaw cycles are used.
Once the tumor cells have been destroyed, the white blood cells of the immune system work to eliminate the dead tissue.
This procedure is an effective treatment option for patients who may have difficulties during surgery.
The entire procedure is very quick and is usually completed within one to three hours.
Recommended organs to treat: Bladder
Hyperthermic intravesical chemotherapy (HVEC), means that a hot drug is introduced into the bladder. Evidence has recently shown that warmed medicine within the bladder can help increase its ability to kill cancer cells.
This is because the heat makes it easier for the chemotherapy drug (mainly Mitomycin) to absorb more easily into the lining of the bladder allowing for deeper penetration.
HIVEC treatment requires the use of a small machine called the Combat BRS System. This System heats the chemotherapy drug (Mitomycin) before it enters the bladder through the tube. The chemotherapy drug is heated to a temperature of 43 ° C.
The medicine gently recirculates around the bladder and system, about 4 times per minute. This is to make sure that the inside of the bladder is kept at a constant temperature and that the drug is well distributed.
Your HIVEC treatment will be carried out as an outpatient procedure, which means that you will not have to stay in the hospital and can go home when your treatment is finished.
The treatment will last for 60 minutes, once it is finished, the Combat BRS System will indicate that the treatment has been completed.
